The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar has moved to New Delhi as part of its ongoing investigation.

Sources said a team of SIT officials has reached the national capital to gather additional evidence, verify key information, and examine various aspects related to the case. The team includes Amtali Police Station OC Inspector Rana Chatterjee, West Agartala Women Police Station OC Inspector Shiuli Das, and Ramnagar Town Outpost OC Sub-Inspector Subendu Das.

The SIT was formed by the Tripura Government to conduct a detailed and transparent investigation into the unnatural death case. The team is headed by West Tripura Superintendent of Police (SP) Namit Pathak.

The investigation is being carried out in connection with the UD case registered at West Agartala Police Station under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The case was registered following the death of DGP Dhankar at the State Police Headquarters in Agartala.

The high-level SIT comprises senior police officials, including Additional SP (Urban) Dhruva Nath, Additional SP (AN) Souvik De, Cyber Crime Police Station OC and Deputy SP Benjamin Dewan, Inspector Bhaskar Saha, Woman Inspector Shiuli Das, and other investigating officers.

During its Delhi visit, the SIT is expected to collect crucial documents, record statements from relevant persons, and verify information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the DGP’s death.

Police sources said the investigation is progressing from multiple angles, with the team focusing on gathering all available evidence to ensure a fair and comprehensive probe.
