Former Tripura Lok Sabha MP Rebati Tripura has dismissed reports claiming that he has stepped away from politics, reaffirming that he remains an active leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and continues to serve on the party's core committee.

Addressing recent media reports, Rebati Tripura expressed disappointment over what he described as baseless speculation regarding his political career.

"I was a teacher long before I entered politics, and this is known to everyone. I joined the teaching profession in 2001 and became associated with the BJP in 2014. Later, I was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2018, following which I remained on leave from my teaching duties," he said.

Explaining his decision to return to the classroom, he clarified that the move was purely professional and had no connection with his political involvement.

"With the TTAADC elections over and no major elections or extensive party programmes at present, I discussed the matter with the Headmaster and resumed my responsibilities as a Political Science teacher at Mahatma Gandhi Higher Secondary School, a government-aided institution," he said.

Rejecting rumours that his return to teaching signalled an exit from politics, Rebati Tripura asserted that he continues to play an active role within the BJP.

"I have not left politics. I remain a committed BJP worker and continue to perform my responsibilities as a member of the party's core committee. Returning to my profession as a teacher should not be misconstrued as withdrawing from public life," he stated.

He further noted that the rules governing government-aided schools do not prevent teachers from participating in political activities, adding that there is nothing unusual about balancing his responsibilities as an educator and a political leader.
