A shocking incident of alleged extortion and gun violence has created widespread panic in the Netajinagar area of Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district located just about 300 meters from the local police station.

According to local sources, contractor Anup Saha, also known as Madhu, had reportedly received a phone call demanding an extortion amount of Rs 50 lakh. When he refused to pay, armed miscreants allegedly stormed his residence on the following night and opened fire multiple times.

The accused are believed to include a notorious criminal named Ranbir and his associates, who are reportedly absconding in several previous criminal cases. Family members of the victim claim that the attackers arrived in a tom-tom (auto rickshaw), and the entire घटना was captured on nearby CCTV cameras.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the incident, but it has left residents deeply shaken.

Locals have expressed strong anger over the rising criminal activities in Bishalgarh. Many allege that despite Ranbir’s alleged involvement in crimes such as theft, robbery, and bomb attacks, no effective action has been taken against him by law enforcement authorities.

The situation has raised serious concerns about public safety and law enforcement efficiency. Some residents even suspect that influential individuals may be backing the accused, enabling such brazen acts to occur in public.

Following the incident, demands for a swift and impartial investigation have intensified. Residents are urging the police to arrest the culprits immediately and ensure strict punishment.
