In a major step towards strengthening advanced healthcare services, AGMC & GBP Hospital will start round-the-clock MRI scanning services from February 9, 2026.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti held on February 4, 2026, under a special initiative of the State Health and Family Welfare Department and with the active efforts of Chief Minister Professor (Dr) Manik Saha.

According to an order issued by the Medical Superintendent of GBP Hospital, the MRI service will now be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Earlier, MRI services at the hospital were limited only up to 10 pm.

The introduction of 24×7 MRI facilities is expected to significantly reduce long waiting hours for patients and make diagnostic services faster and more accessible, especially for patients coming from remote and distant areas of the state.

Meanwhile, to reduce excessive patient load and pressure on the existing MRI machine, the Chief Minister has issued special instructions to install an additional MRI machine at the hospital. For the convenience of patients, work will soon begin to set up a new MRI machine in the Super Specialty Building of GBP Hospital.

Health officials believe that these initiatives will greatly improve diagnostic efficiency and overall patient care at one of the state’s premier healthcare institutions.
