Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy on Sunday announced that a girls' orphanage will be established at Chhentail village under the Chandipur Assembly constituency, stressing the need to provide care, education and a secure future for orphaned girls.

Speaking on the occasion, Roy said orphaned girls are among the most vulnerable members of society, often growing up without the love and protection of a family. He said an orphanage is not merely a place that provides food and shelter, but a home where children receive security, education, values and affection.

The minister said the proposed institution will focus on the holistic development of the children by providing quality education along with opportunities to learn music, dance, art and computer skills, enabling them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.

Highlighting the role of caregivers, Roy said they serve not only as teachers but also as parental figures, offering emotional support, guidance and encouragement to help the girls build confidence and pursue their dreams.

Emphasising that empowering a girl means strengthening families and future generations, the minister said the responsibility of caring for orphaned children lies with society as a whole. He added that the orphanage aims to nurture future doctors, teachers, officers and artists, proving that these girls are not defined by their circumstances but by their potential.

Appealing to the public to support the initiative, Roy said the smiles and success of these children would shape a brighter future for society.
