According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday when heavy mud and waterlogging made the road nearly impassable. The minister’s vehicle was stranded, while traffic on the highway remained disrupted for more than two hours. Hundreds of vehicles were left stranded on both sides of the road, causing severe inconvenience to office-goers, patients, students, and other commuters.
Eyewitnesses said the minister’s vehicle could not move through the muddy stretch and was eventually pulled out with the help of his security personnel and others present at the spot. Traffic resumed gradually after the vehicle was cleared.
The affected stretch of NH-208 has remained in poor condition for a long time. During the monsoon, the Subalsing hill section frequently becomes waterlogged and muddy, leading to traffic disruptions and safety concerns.
Local residents alleged that despite repeated appeals to the authorities and the concerned department, no permanent solution has been implemented. The incident has once again raised questions over the delay in repairing the national highway and ensuring safe and smooth transportation for the public, who face such hardships on a regular basis.
