On Teachers’ Day, the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, conferred the prestigious National Teachers’ Award on Bidisha Majumder, a teacher of Hariananda English Medium H.S. School in Gomati district, Tripura, at a ceremony in New Delhi.

Majumder was honoured for her innovative teaching practices, promotion of scientific curiosity, and strong community involvement.

Under her guidance, students from her school have achieved distinction in national platforms such as INSPIRE Awards MANAK, the National Children’s Science Congress, ISRO’s YUVIKA programme, and the Wipro Earthian initiative.

Her contribution extends beyond academics. She has been actively coaching children from orphanages and spearheading awareness campaigns against child marriage. By using creative mediums like street plays, she has reached wider communities with socially relevant messages.

The award underlines the transformative role of teachers in shaping not only academic achievers but also responsible and socially conscious citizens.
