Three youths have alleged that they were assaulted and robbed by a group of unidentified miscreants in Tripura's Bishalgarh late on Wednesday night, prompting police to launch an investigation into the incident.

The alleged incident took place at Laskar Chowmuhani under Bishalgarh Police Station. According to the complainants, they were travelling in an Alto car (TR 01 AN 0226) when they stopped by the roadside after their vehicle reportedly ran out of fuel.

The victims, identified as Ismail Miah, Nazmul Hossain and Arif Hossain, claimed that an Eco vehicle carrying several unidentified persons arrived at the spot. The occupants allegedly questioned them before the situation suddenly turned violent.

The youths alleged that they were dragged out of their vehicle, physically assaulted and threatened with a firearm. They further claimed that the assailants robbed them of cash and two mobile phones before damaging the Alto car. Two of the victims reportedly sustained injuries in the attack.

The incident created panic in the locality after one of the youths was reportedly missing for a brief period before being traced.

A police team led by Bishalgarh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Bijoy Das reached the spot after receiving information and began an investigation. Officers collected evidence from the scene and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspected attackers.

Police have not confirmed the allegations and said the matter is under investigation. Officials stated that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the probe.

The incident comes amid growing concerns over law and order in Bishalgarh, where several cases of alleged theft, robbery and other criminal activities have been reported in recent weeks.
