Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday announced that the state has already implemented over 70% of the security-related directives issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the recent DGsP/IGsP Conference held in Raipur.
Speaking at the State-level conference on the outcomes of the DGsP/IGsP Conference-2025 at Pragna Bhavan, Dr. Saha said the meeting was organised to review progress and align the state’s internal security mechanisms with the Centre’s vision.
Dr. Saha highlighted that the Raipur conference, attended by PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and top police officers from across the country, featured extensive discussions on national security concerns, including emerging crime patterns, foreign-funded protests, and logistical support extended by certain NGOs and external entities.
“Our internal security faces several challenges. Detailed discussions were held on how certain protests are being funded by specific NGOs and foreign countries. We are committed to addressing all such emerging threats,” the Chief Minister stated.
“Police are now first responders in every crisis”
Dr. Saha praised the evolving role of the police force, describing them as front runners in building a new Tripura.
“Police today are not limited to crime control. They handle accidents, disasters, mass management—everything. People want peace, and the police are the first to reach them,” he said.
He referenced India’s stronger global standing post–Operation Sindoor, noting External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s assertion that India no longer needs advice from others but seeks constructive partnerships.
“Before 2014, the situation was different. India was encircled by threats, especially from Pakistan. Many BSF, CRPF, and police personnel were martyred. That situation could not be allowed to continue,” he added.
The Chief Minister informed that most of the security directives issued by the Prime Minister have already been put into action in Tripura.
“Over 70% of PM Modi’s directions have already been implemented. We are on the right track, but we must strengthen our efforts further,” he said.
Urging police personnel to embrace a pro-people approach, Dr. Saha emphasized that law and order strengthening begins with democratic values.
“The uniform is an ornament. Officers should wear it with pride and maintain a positive, people-friendly demeanor. If India can envision a New India, why can’t we build a New Tripura?”
The Chief Minister added that he and his government rarely interfere in police functioning, giving the force a “golden opportunity” to set an example for the rest of the country.
Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag, and several senior officers were present at the event.
