The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to hold protest rallies across the state, including in Agartala on Monday evening, in response to the derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother by leaders of the RJD and Congress in Bihar.

An organizational meeting was convened at the State BJP office to plan the upcoming protests. The meeting was chaired by State BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya and attended by state general secretaries Amit Rakshit and Bhagaban Das, along with mandal and Yuva Morcha leaders from Sadar Urban and Sadar Rural districts.

A senior BJP leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the remarks against the Prime Minister’s late mother were “completely unacceptable” and strongly condemned them.

The leaders stated that the protest rallies aim to demonstrate public outrage and solidarity in defense of the Prime Minister’s family and dignity.

“Statements from leaders like Rahul Gandhi, as well as from RJD and Congress leaders, are unacceptable. This is an attack not only on the Prime Minister’s family but also on India’s culture and Bihar’s heritage. We demand a public apology from them and have decided to hold protest rallies,” the BJP leader added.

During the meeting, party leaders also discussed strategies to strengthen the organizational base, outline future directions, and make the party more dynamic at the grassroots level. Preparations for the rallies are already in full swing, with the state leadership planning an intensified campaign tomorrow evening.
