Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced today that the Tripura state budget for 2026–27 has risen by approximately 5.52% over the previous year, emphasizing key sectors such as health, rural development, and capital expenditure. 

The government has also enhanced allowances, providing a total of 41% DA and DR, and increased funding for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

Addressing a press conference, Dr. Saha thanked Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy for presenting the budget. The state’s budget for 2026–27 is Rs 34,212.31 crore, up from Rs 32,410 crore in 2025–26, marking a 5.52% growth. Capital expenditure has been prioritized, reaching Rs 8,945.92 crore, a 13.19% increase. Additionally, Rs 4,676 crore has been proposed as a supplementary grant. The TTAADC will receive Rs 918 crore this year, up from Rs 860.28 crore last year.

Dr. Saha confirmed that no new taxes will be introduced.

Key sector allocations include:

  • Health: Rs 2,441.50 crore, a 25.29% increase

  • Rural Development: Rs 4,094 crore, up 17.50%

  • Agriculture: Rs 1,985.61 crore, a 5.31% rise

  • Education: Rs 6,439.56 crore, up 4.43%

The Chief Minister also outlined new health initiatives: a Critical Care Block in Dhalai District Hospital; Trauma Care Centres in Teliamura, Bishramganj, and Khowai; Maternal and Child Care wings in district and sub-divisional hospitals; and a new Primary Health Centre in Gomati. Upgrades are planned for 20 PHCs and 9 CHCs. Furthermore, an Ayurvedic Medical College in Gomati, Homeopathy Medical Colleges, and the Tripura University of Health Sciences will be established.

Other developmental projects include the creation of an IT Park and multiple infrastructure initiatives. Dr. Saha noted, “Earlier, we had provided 36% DA, and now an additional 5% has been added. Employees will receive this enhanced DA starting April 1.”
