The Tripura Pradesh Congress has intensified its attack on the BJP-led state government, alleging that the administration has failed on multiple fronts, including healthcare, education, employment and governance.

In a statement, Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty accused the government of making tall claims about development and good governance while failing to address basic issues affecting common people. He alleged that over the past eight and a half years, the state has witnessed growing administrative inefficiency, corruption and a widening gap between the government and the public.

Taking a dig at the government’s healthcare initiatives, Chakraborty raised concerns over the condition of GBP Hospital, claiming that serious shortcomings in security and infrastructure remain unresolved. He pointed out that several important areas, including the women doctors’ hostel, allegedly lack adequate security arrangements, CCTV coverage and proper boundary protection. He also criticised the parking situation inside the hospital campus.

The Congress leader further questioned the efficiency of diagnostic services, stating that despite a large number of MRI, CT scan, X-ray and ultrasound examinations being conducted daily, shortage of specialist doctors has affected timely delivery of reports. He claimed that many patients are being forced to wait for several days for essential medical reports.

Chakraborty also criticised the state government’s approach towards implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, alleging that the four-year undergraduate programme was introduced without adequate preparation. He claimed that several colleges lack sufficient classrooms, faculty members and infrastructure to conduct advanced semesters smoothly.

He further alleged that changes in admission rules and the introduction of new credit requirements for higher semesters have created uncertainty among students, especially those with pending papers. According to him, the shortage of teachers and inadequate facilities could severely impact the future of thousands of students.

Highlighting the employment crisis, the Congress spokesperson said that many young people are facing uncertainty as job opportunities remain limited, and questioned the decision to extend degree programmes without ensuring proper academic support.

The Tripura Pradesh Congress demanded immediate corrective measures from the government and urged authorities to focus on strengthening public healthcare, improving education infrastructure and creating employment opportunities. The party also appealed to students, youths, parents and citizens to come together to raise their voices against what it described as “anti-people policies and administrative failures.”
