Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced that the Budget Session for the financial year 2026–27 will commence on March 13, 2026. In preparation for the session, a series of important meetings were held at the Secretariat with various Cabinet Ministers and senior officials to deliberate on the proposed income and expenditure framework for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Finance Minister met with the Minister of State for General Administration (Printing & Stationery), Science, Technology & Environment, Animesh Debbarma, to review departmental proposals and discuss fund allocation priorities.
Separate meetings were also conducted with the Minister for Tribal Welfare and Minority Welfare, Sukla Charan Noatia, focusing on development programmes and priority sectors. Detailed discussions were held on the Revised Estimates for 2025–26 and the Budget Estimates for 2026–27 to ensure effective implementation of welfare initiatives in the coming financial year.
Further deliberations took place with the Cabinet Minister for Higher Education, Panchayat and General Administration (Political), Kishor Barman, regarding departmental expenditure plans and strategic allocation of resources.
The Finance Minister also met with the Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Affairs & Social Education and Labour, Tinku Roy, to assess funding requirements and discuss sector-specific development goals.
In another meeting, discussions were held with the Minister for Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture and Statistics, Bikash Debbarma, centering on financial planning and allocation strategies for the concerned departments.
Additionally, a comprehensive review meeting was conducted with the Minister for Transport, Tourism, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Sushanta Chowdhury, where detailed deliberations took place on proposed income and expenditure statements, including the Revised Estimates for 2025–26 and Budget Estimates for 2026–27.
The series of meetings aimed at ensuring a well-structured, transparent, and development-oriented budget, with focused allocations across key sectors to strengthen public welfare initiatives in Tripura for the financial year 2026–27.
