The state of Tripura is set to come alive with a series of vibrant events from January 23 to 26, commemorating Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary and the 74th Republic Day of India. Residents can look forward to a rich lineup of cultural performances, sports competitions, exhibitions, and ceremonial celebrations across Agartala and nearby areas.
The Netaji Jayanti celebrations will kick off at 8:30 AM at the Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan grounds. Following the opening ceremony, a lively procession will begin at 9:15 AM, weaving through the streets of Agartala. Simultaneously, a friendly cricket match for visually impaired players will take place at 9:00 AM at Narsinghgarh Panchayat Grounds.
In the evening, the city will host a variety of events, including the Horticulture Exhibition at Rabindra Kanan and a cultural program at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, both commencing at 5:30 PM.
The day will feature a women’s friendly football match at Umakanta Academy Grounds starting at 3:00 PM. Rabindra Kanan will continue to host the Horticulture Exhibition, along with creative activities like “Sit & Draw” and Alpana competitions. The day will conclude with a cultural performance at Rabindra Kanan at 6:00 PM.
Early risers can catch the Cross-Country Competition, beginning at 7:00 AM from Umakanta Academy Grounds. At 12:00 PM, a tribal folk dance competition will be held at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, followed by a school cultural performance at Muktdhara Auditorium at 3:00 PM.
The main Republic Day event will take place at the Assam Rifles Grounds, where Governor Indrasena Reddy Naru will hoist the national flag at 9:00 AM and receive the parade salute, followed by cultural performances by school students. Flag hoisting ceremonies will also be organized at various government and private institutions starting at sunrise.
Earlier in the morning, Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath will pay tribute at Gandhi Ghat at 6:30 AM and Shaheed Bedi at Albert Ekka Park at 7:00 AM, before hoisting the national flag at 7:30 AM at the New Capital Complex Secretariat.
The day will include special initiatives such as distributing fruits and sweets to hospital patients, residents of blind schools, correctional institutions, orphanages, and other charitable organizations at 10:30 AM. An ex-servicemen’s ceremony will be held at Pragya Bhavan at 12:30 PM, followed by a homely gathering at Lok Bhavan at 5:00 PM. Winners of the Horticulture Exhibition at Rabindra Kanan will be honored at 5:30 PM, while the state-level tribal folk dance competition winners will be felicitated at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan at 6:00 PM. The celebrations will conclude with a grand dinner with tribal leaders and social dignitaries at Pragya Bhavan at 8:30 PM.
