Tripura Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting with owners of empanelled rice mills to assess the state's preparedness for the upcoming Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2026–27.

The meeting, held at the Civil Secretariat, was attended by the Principal Secretary of the Food Department, the Director, and other senior officials. Discussions focused on ensuring the timely production of high-quality Custom Milled Rice (CMR), completing milling operations within the stipulated deadline, maintaining strict quality standards, and strengthening coordination among all stakeholders involved in the procurement and milling process.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed the roadmap for the procurement and supply of Custom Milled Rice and stressed the need to make the entire system more transparent, efficient, and time-bound. He urged rice mill owners to strictly adhere to quality norms while ensuring that milling activities are completed within the prescribed schedule.

Chowdhury also called upon all stakeholders to work with greater responsibility and close coordination to ensure the uninterrupted availability of food grains for the public. He said timely completion of milling operations and adherence to quality standards are essential for the effective implementation of the Public Distribution System (PDS) and to safeguard food security across the state.

The review meeting forms part of the state government's preparations to ensure a smooth procurement and distribution process during the Kharif Marketing Season 2026–27.
