Tripura CPI(M) State Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury has alleged that the BJP and Tipra Motha have been maintaining a "hidden alliance" since the 2023 Assembly elections and should make their political understanding public.

Commenting on reports of a possible BJP-Tipra Motha alliance for the forthcoming Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Chaudhury claimed that such an arrangement would not be new, as the two parties had already been working together since 2023.

"BJP and Tipra Motha have been together since 2023. At times, their alliance becomes visible, while at other times they try to conceal it. To divert attention from their failure to fulfil people's aspirations, they accuse each other, attack workers and even target party offices. Despite these public confrontations, their alliance continues," Chaudhury alleged.

He said that if the BJP and Tipra Motha officially contest the Village Committee elections together and share seats, it could provide clarity to the people of the ADC areas, including both tribal and non-tribal communities.

According to the CPI(M) leader, the public disagreements between the two parties are merely political theatrics aimed at misleading voters.

"They attack each other during the day and sit together in the evening. There is nothing new in this. These are only attempts to confuse the people," he claimed.

Chaudhury further stated that if the BJP and Tipra Motha intend to work together politically, they should openly acknowledge their alliance instead of keeping it concealed.

"We want their alliance to come before the people. Let everyone know the reality and decide accordingly," he said.

His remarks come amid growing political speculation over possible electoral strategies and alliances ahead of the TTAADC Village Committee elections, where all major political parties are expected to engage in a keen contest.
