A senior delegation from the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), headed by RD Secretary Abhishek Singh, visited New Delhi to present its proposed budget for the 2026–27 financial year. The presentation outlined key priorities focused on expanding rural development initiatives and strengthening Self-Help Group (SHG) networks across the state.
During the session, TRLM CEO Tarit Kanti Chakma highlighted the mission’s achievements and shared future strategies. A key highlight was the success of the Samriddhi campaigns, which have significantly promoted SHG-led enterprises. The initiative generated ₹198 crore under Samriddhi 1.0 and an additional ₹248 crore under Samriddhi 2.0, demonstrating rising grassroots entrepreneurship among women.
In a major step forward, TRLM has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Management Kolkata to develop “Millionaire Didis” and “Crorepati Didis,” aiming to elevate rural women into high-earning entrepreneurs.
Previously, ₹100 crore was distributed to 1 lakh “Lakhpati Didis” by Chief Minister Manik Saha. Building on this achievement, the state has now raised its target to 1.35 lakh beneficiaries, up from the earlier goal of 1.13 lakh.
To further support livelihoods, TRLM has approved 60 vehicles for SHG members to improve transportation and market access. Additionally, ₹110 crore has been allocated for infrastructure development in the upcoming financial year.
Strengthening market linkages, the government plans to establish SHE Marts in every district of Tripura. These outlets will act as centralized platforms for marketing and selling SHG products, boosting visibility and income opportunities for rural women.
The Ministry of Rural Development also praised TRLM’s performance under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). For 2026–27, ₹49.92 crore has been proposed to support skill development and job placement initiatives for rural youth.
Another important focus is the Vibrant Villages Programme, under which 87 villages across 23 border blocks will be developed through targeted livelihood interventions, ensuring inclusive growth in remote regions.
As a mark of appreciation, the TRLM team presented SHG-produced items to officials of the Ministry of Rural Development, symbolizing grassroots empowerment and self-reliance.
