According to Officer-in-Charge Tapas Das of Sonamura Police Station, police recovered 50 packets containing a total of 100 kg of dry ganja. The contraband was found abandoned and remained unclaimed at the spot.
After observing all necessary legal formalities, the police seized the ganja as unclaimed property. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is approximately Rs 20 lakh.
Police have launched an investigation to identify the individuals involved and ascertain the ownership and intended destination of the illegal consignment.
Officials stated that efforts are underway to trace the source of the contraband and uncover any network linked to its transportation and trafficking. The seizure is being seen as a major success in the ongoing drive against drug smuggling along the border areas.
