BJP program attacked in Tripura: tension grips Jampuijala after fresh violence

Just days after the attack on the BJP's 'Mann Ki Baat' program in Asarambari, fresh political violence rocked Tripura as miscreants targeted a BJP meeting at Jampuijala area in Tripura.

Several BJP workers were reportedly injured in the incident, prompting the deployment of a large police force to the area. The attack has triggered panic among local residents and party supporters.

BJP leader Bipin Debbarma, who was present at the meeting, informed that the gathering was part of a series of pre-scheduled programs being conducted by the BJP Janajati Morcha ahead of a tribal rally slated for August 9 in Agartala.

The meeting was organized at Jampuijala Bazar under the Takarajala Mandal.

"Miscreants attacked BJP supporters who had gathered at the market for the meeting. Many were seriously injured and have been admitted to the hospital," said Debbarma.

He further alleged that similar incidents are being reported across the Jampuijala area, where BJP workers are being intimidated and prevented from participating in party programs. Without naming anyone explicitly, Debbarma hinted at Tipra Matha's alleged involvement in the incident, stating that attacks are becoming routine whenever BJP attempts to organize events in the TTAADC areas.

“This is an attack on democracy. No other party is being allowed to hold meetings freely in the ADC region. This trend of violence must stop,” he said, while strongly condemning the incident.

The incident has once again stirred political tensions in the state, especially after the recent violence in Asarambari, where BJP had accused Tipra Motha supporters of disrupting the Prime Minister’s monthly radio address, Mann Ki Baat.

With the August 9 tribal rally approaching, political observers fear that more such clashes could erupt unless law enforcement agencies step up vigilance in sensitive regions.
