In a proud moment for Tripura, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Dhalai district has been conferred the prestigious Best Zonal KVK Award for 2025 by the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi.
The award, presented during the NAAS Foundation Day Ceremony held on June 5, recognizes KVK Dhalai’s outstanding contribution to advancing agricultural science and empowering farming communities through innovative practices and technology-driven solutions.
The event witnessed the presence of eminent scientists and academicians from across the country and abroad.
Accepting the honor on behalf of the institution, Dr. Abhijit Debnath, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK Dhalai, received the award which includes a Shield, Certificate of Merit, Citation, and a cash prize of Rs 25,000.
Reacting to the achievement, Tripura Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone associated with the Dhalai District Agricultural Science Center for being selected as the Best Zonal Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the country this year.
KVK Dhalai has emerged as a beacon of excellence in applying advanced agricultural technologies. The progress seen in other districts is equally heartening, and I am confident that agriculture will play a crucial role in strengthening the economic foundation of our state. My best wishes to all farmers and everyone engaged in agricultural development across Tripura.”
According to a press release issued by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, the award aims to promote healthy competition among KVKs nationwide, while encouraging the effective use of science and technology to benefit farmers. It also fosters institutional pride and seeks to inspire the widespread adoption of sustainable and profitable farming practices.
KVK Dhalai stood out for its comprehensive impact across various performance indicators, including enhancing farm productivity, profitability, and livelihood security, promoting youth skill development, entrepreneurship, and self-employment, mobilizing external resources and utilizing the revolving fund for institutional growth, strengthening farmer collectives and cooperative efforts and publishing valuable extension literature and knowledge-sharing materials.
