The Meteorological Centre in Agartala has issued an Orange Alert for several parts of Tripura, forecasting intensified rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over the next four days.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), hot and humid conditions prevailed across many areas of the state. In the last 24 hours, moderate rainfall was recorded in most parts, with heavy showers reported in Khowai district.
West, North, Unakoti, and Dhalai districts received moderate rainfall, while Sepahijala and Gomati experienced light rain. The South district saw very light rainfall.
“No significant change was observed in maximum temperatures, which continued to stay appreciably above normal. However, a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures was recorded, bringing them back within the normal range,” the IMD stated.
An Orange Alert has been issued for the West, Khowai, and North districts from May 13 to 14, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
From May 14 to 17, a Yellow Alert has been sounded for all districts across the state, warning of continued inclement weather.
