NFR to run special pairs of trains for Kharchi Puja

In a significant move to ensure smooth and convenient travel for devotees during the forthcoming Kharchi Puja, the Northeast Frontier Railway has arranged a pair of special trains between Dharmanagar and Agartala.

Announcing the initiative today, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the special train services have been planned to accommodate the large number of pilgrims who visit the revered Temple of the Fourteen Gods during the auspicious occasion.

“Kharchi Puja is a celebration of unity and spiritual heritage. To support the thousands of devotees who take part in this sacred festival, the NF Railway has stepped in with this thoughtful arrangement,” Chowdhury said.

The Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their swift intervention and support in facilitating the arrangement.

 “I sincerely thank the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister of Tripura, and the Union Railway Minister for their unwavering support. This timely gesture once again underscores the Centre’s commitment to preserving the cultural and religious ethos of our state,” he added.

Chowdhury further reiterated that the state government is steadfast in its commitment to safeguard and promote Tripura’s vibrant cultural and spiritual traditions.

Celebrated with great fervour, Kharchi Puja is one of Tripura’s most significant indigenous festivals, drawing thousands of devotees from across the state and beyond. The week-long festival venerates the Fourteen Deities of the royal dynasty, and holds profound spiritual and cultural significance for the people of Tripura.
