Tripura is gearing up to celebrate one of its most revered and culturally rich festivals—Kharchi Puja—which is set to commence on July 3 at the Chaturdasa Devata Temple in Khayerpur, under the Old Agartala block. With just a month to go, extensive preparations are in full swing to ensure the smooth and grand conduct of the week-long festivities.
A high-level preparatory meeting was convened on Monday at the Conference Hall of the West Tripura District Magistrate's Office, chaired by MLA Ratan Chakraborty, who emphasized the profound cultural, spiritual, and unifying essence of Kharchi Puja.
“Kharchi is more than just a religious festival—it is a living embodiment of Tripura’s heritage and identity,” said MLA Chakraborty. “It draws people from every part of the state and beyond, celebrating unity in devotion. Let us come together to make this year’s festival a grand success.”
He urged all government departments, civic agencies, and citizens to work in coordination to ensure a seamless and memorable celebration.
Additional District Magistrate Sajal Biswas presented a comprehensive action plan focusing on strengthening infrastructure around the temple premises. Key initiatives include enhanced lighting systems, provision of clean drinking water, deployment of health camps, and establishment of well-organized parking areas to manage the expected surge in visitors, particularly during the evenings.
In a bid to enrich the public experience, multiple government departments will install exhibition stalls showcasing a range of welfare schemes and developmental programs. These stalls aim to inform, engage, and empower visitors through interactive awareness campaigns.
Adding an artistic flair to the spiritual fervour, the Information and Cultural Affairs Department will host cultural evenings every day during the festival. These events will feature performances by celebrated artists from across Tripura, turning the temple grounds into a vibrant confluence of devotion and culture.
With collective dedication, meticulous planning, and widespread enthusiasm, the upcoming Kharchi Festival 2025 promises to be a spectacular celebration of faith, tradition, and community spirit—truly a reflection of Tripura’s enduring legacy.
