Train services disrupted in Lumding-Badarpur hill section due to landslide

Train movement in the Lumding-Badarpur hill section came to a halt today afternoon following a landslide between Dihakho and Mupa stations.

According to railway officials, the landslide led to boulders and earth blocking the track, forcing a suspension of train services in the affected section. Upon receiving the information, senior officials of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) rushed to the site and initiated restoration work.

To assist affected passengers, Help Desks have been activated at Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Badarpur, and Agartala stations. Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with station authorities for updates on train timings and alternative arrangements.

“The situation is being closely monitored by the railway authorities. Restoration work is in full swing, and further updates will be issued as the clearance progresses,” an NFR spokesperson said.

The Lumding-Badarpur section, known for its challenging hilly terrain, is a vital rail link connecting the Barak Valley and Tripura with the rest of the country.
