Former Tripura Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb launched a blistering attack on the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday, accusing the party of acting as “brokers for China” without having any relevance in that country.
Speaking at an event organized by the Tripura Irregular DWS Pump Operators Association at Agartala Town Hall, Deb said, “Sitting in India, the communists are brokering for China. But they can’t even buy an inch of land there. The Chinese Prime Minister would sweep them away with a broom.”
Mocking the CPM's ideological leanings, Deb accused the party of hypocrisy. “They claim to stand with the poor, yet collect donations from them while doing little to improve their lives. Even during the recent floods, not a single communist leader came forward to help the victims,” he alleged.
Criticizing the Left’s long rule in Tripura, Deb said the CPM had obstructed central government schemes and misled people for decades.
“They never wanted citizens to benefit from government facilities and made every attempt to spread misinformation,” he said.
Deb also claimed that only Prime Minister Narendra Modi could address the long-pending demands of the state’s irregular pump operators.
He accused the Left of prioritizing union politics over public welfare.
“For them, the state means nothing. All that matters is preserving their ideological dominance and union control,” Deb said.
