Was unaware of oath-taking ceremony, received invitation late night: Pradyot

Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma today clarified that he and his party colleagues were not informed in advance about the recent ministerial oath-taking ceremony in the state.

Speaking to reporters, Pradyot said, “I was not aware of the swearing-in ceremony. I received a message around 9 PM last night stating that a minister was going to be sworn in. I immediately called Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha around 10 PM and informed him that I wouldn’t be able to attend.”

He explained that he was travelling at the time and had no prior communication regarding the event.

“If we had been informed earlier, we would certainly have participated. Also, with Kharchi Puja underway, all our MDCs and MLAs are currently involved in programmes across several villages,” he added.

Pradyot further mentioned that a formal invitation reached him only by Wednesday afternoon, after the ceremony had already taken place.
