A family in East Churaibari village of North Tripura had a narrow escape on Tuesday after the guard wall of an 11 kV power tower collapsed onto their house during heavy rain.

The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. at the residence of Anowara Begum in Ward No. 3. No one was at home at the time, preventing any casualties. However, the collapse severely damaged the kitchen and bathroom, destroyed part of the tin roof, and killed several ducks and chickens.

Anowara Begum alleged that repeated complaints about soil erosion near the tower had gone unaddressed by authorities. The affected family has sought compensation from the local administration.

Residents have urged authorities to inspect and repair vulnerable power infrastructure to prevent similar incidents during the monsoon season.
