The District Congress on Monday organized a road blockade in Sakaibari under the Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura to protest the prolonged shortage of safe drinking water in the area.

According to the protesters, residents have been struggling with an acute water crisis for a considerable period. They alleged that repeated appeals to the concerned authorities have failed to bring any meaningful action or lasting solution.

Congress leaders, along with local residents, staged the demonstration by blocking a key road, temporarily disrupting vehicular traffic. The blockade was eventually withdrawn after the administration intervened and assured the protesters that the matter would be addressed, allowing traffic to return to normal.

District Congress leaders cautioned that if the government does not take immediate steps to ensure a regular supply of safe drinking water, the party will launch a more extensive public agitation in the days ahead.

The demonstrators also called on the government to act without delay and implement a permanent solution to the persistent drinking water crisis, describing access to clean water as a fundamental necessity for the people of Sakaibari.
