The Tourism Minister of Tripura, Sushanta Chowdhury, has announced that Chobimura—popularly known as the “Amazon of Tripura” and “Amazon of the North-East” for its scenic beauty—is set for further development as a key tourism destination.

He stated that the State Tourism Department has already launched a renovation and development project to improve infrastructure and enhance the overall experience for both domestic and international visitors. The foundation stone has been laid, and construction work is currently underway.

During a recent inspection of the site, the Minister reviewed the progress of the ongoing work and instructed officials to ensure that the project is completed within the scheduled timeframe while maintaining high construction quality.

An on-site review meeting was also held, attended by officials including ADC Executive Officer C.K. Jamatiya, Ranjit Das, Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, and Director Prashant Badal Negi, along with representatives from the Tourism Department, district administration, and local leaders. The discussions focused on improving visitor facilities and strengthening management and services at the site.

The initiative is expected to make Chobimura more accessible, better organized, and increasingly tourist-friendly, further strengthening its status as one of the region’s major attractions.
