The Southwest Monsoon has officially arrived in Tripura on June 7, according to a press release from the Meteorological Centre in Agartala.

Its arrival this year is about two days later than the state’s usual onset date.

Weather officials said the monsoon has already begun influencing parts of the state, creating conditions conducive to widespread rainfall.

In contrast, last year the monsoon covered Tripura earlier, making its onset on May 26, 2025.

Over the past 24 hours, several areas in the state have recorded light to moderate rainfall, and similar weather activity is expected to continue as the monsoon further advances.

The arrival of the monsoon is considered important for Tripura’s agriculture and water supply, as it supports the ongoing farming season with much-needed rainfall.
