With just seven days left before the commencement of examinations, Class IX students of the CBSE-affiliated Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Vidya Jyoti School in Charilam are facing growing anxiety as they have still not received their Social Science (SST) textbooks.

According to the students, the first phase of the Periodic Assessment (PA-1) is scheduled to begin on July 13, but the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has not yet supplied the required SST textbooks. As a result, students say they are finding it extremely difficult to prepare for the examination.

Speaking to the media, the school's Principal, Manimoy Bhowmik, said the school authorities have already taken up the matter with the concerned officials. However, despite repeated communication, the textbooks have not yet arrived, affecting both classroom learning and exam preparation.

Class IX students expressed concern that preparing for the assessment without the prescribed textbook has become a major challenge. They urged NCERT to ensure the immediate supply of the Social Science textbooks so they can prepare adequately before the examinations.

Parents have also appealed to the concerned authorities to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest by ensuring that the textbooks reach the school before the examinations begin.
