A sudden loud explosion-like sound rattled a multi-storey apartment building in the Ramnagar area of Agartala during the afternoon hours, triggering panic among residents and causing widespread alarm in the locality.
According to eyewitnesses, the deafening sound was so intense that parts of the building reportedly shook, prompting several residents to rush out of their flats in fear. The incident created a chaotic scene as people gathered outside the building, unsure of what had occurred.
Emergency services, including local police and fire brigade personnel, quickly reached the spot and began assessing the situation. Initial reports suggest that one person sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Local sources further claimed that the blast-like incident led to partial damage and scorching in one section of the building. Preliminary estimates indicate that around 12 to 13 flats may have been affected due to the impact of the explosion.
Following the incident, senior civic officials and law enforcement authorities visited the site to review the damage. Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and local MLA Dipak Majumdar also inspected the location and interacted with affected residents.
Preliminary speculation points to a possible electrical fault or malfunction of mechanical equipment as the cause of the loud blast-like sound. However, authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact reason behind the incident, while safety inspections of the building are currently underway.
