The entire state of Tripura has come alive with festivity as the traditional Garia Puja is being celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. People from all communities are taking part in the celebrations, making it a truly inclusive event.
One of the most important religious festivals of the indigenous communities, Garia Puja holds special significance, especially among the tribal and Jamatia communities. It is observed every year on the 7th day of the Bengali month of Baishakh, with preparations continuing for nearly a month in advance.
From villages to towns, a festive spirit has spread across the state. Tribal communities are performing rituals and offering prayers to Baba Garia while preserving their traditional customs. In some places, ritual animal sacrifice, which is part of long-standing cultural practices, is also being observed.
In the capital Agartala and nearby areas, especially those with a larger tribal population, both individual and community pujas have been organized on a large scale.
On this occasion, several political leaders, including Manik Saha, Jitendra Chaudhury, Ratan Lal Nath, and Rajib Bhattacharjee, extended their greetings to the people of the state. They expressed hope that the festival would strengthen unity, harmony, and brotherhood among all communities.
Although traditionally a tribal festival, Garia Puja has now become a universal celebration in Tripura. This year, too, people from all sections of society joined in, creating an atmosphere of joy, unity, and cultural harmony across the state.
