Tripura Congress President Asish Kumar Saha on Wednesday said that at a time when unrest and divisive politics are spreading across the nation, the Congress Party will remain steadfast in following the path shown by late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to restore peace, harmony, and unity in the country.

Saha made these remarks after offering floral tributes at Gandhi Ghat in Agartala on the occasion of the 81st birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi.

He said the Congress continues to draw inspiration from the late Prime Minister’s vision of peace, solidarity, and inclusive progress.

“Rajiv Gandhi was a leader of the people who dreamt of building a modern India. He worked tirelessly for youth empowerment, women’s reservation, technological advancement, and educational reforms such as the establishment of Navodaya Schools. His commitment to unity and social justice continues to inspire us,” Saha stated.

He further emphasized that Congress will remain committed to carrying forward Rajiv Gandhi’s ideals.

“At a time when the nation is witnessing unrest and politics of division, Rajiv Gandhi’s message of unity is more relevant than ever. People fondly remember him for his noble contributions, and the Congress Party is determined to revive the spirit of peace, solidarity, and brotherhood that he stood for,” the PCC chief said.

The day was observed nationwide by the Indian National Congress as Sadbhavna Diwas, highlighting the party’s pledge to communal harmony and inclusive development.

“Today marks the 81st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Across the country, the Congress is observing this day as Sadbhavna Diwas. In Tripura too, programmes are being held at district and block levels to honour his vision and contributions,” Saha added.
