An unidentified elderly man, aged around 60–62 years, died at Bishalgarh Subdivision Hospital on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the man was rescued in a sick condition by Bishalgarh Fire Service personnel on Tuesday afternoon and admitted to the hospital.
Despite receiving treatment overnight, he passed away early the next day.
Soon after the incident, curiosity gripped the hospital premises as the news of his death spread. Bishalgarh Police rushed to the hospital and began an investigation into the case.
Since Bishalgarh Subdivision Hospital lacks proper facilities to preserve the body, the authorities completed all legal formalities under the supervision of the subdivision administration and shifted the body to the Agartala GBP Hospital morgue. The body will be kept there for 72 hours until the identity of the deceased is confirmed.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Rajib Roy of Bishalgarh Subdivision Hospital confirmed the details.
