The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination was conducted on Sunday at various schools across the city amid stringent security arrangements and strict adherence to regulations. One of the examination centres was set up at Umakanta Academy in the state capital.
From early morning, a large crowd of candidates and guardians was seen outside the examination centres. According to the authorities overseeing the examination, candidates were allowed to enter the centres only between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
While most candidates managed to enter within the stipulated time, several aspirants were seen rushing to the centres at the last moment. However, no candidate arriving after 9:00 AM was permitted to enter the examination hall. As a result, many candidates were forced to return disappointed after missing the deadline. The situation briefly led to tension outside some examination centres.
Security arrangements at the centres were visibly strict. Police personnel and security guards were deployed at every venue to maintain order and ensure smooth conduct of the examination. Candidates underwent thorough checking before entering the centres, and electronic gadgets such as mobile phones and smartwatches were strictly prohibited.
Officials conducting the examination stated that the rules were implemented strictly in accordance with UPSC guidelines. They added that maintaining the integrity and transparency of the examination process was the primary reason behind enforcing the time restrictions without exception.
