In a major breakthrough, the West Agartala Police have recovered three stolen motorcycles and a quantity of gold ornaments, arresting four accused in connection with multiple theft and robbery cases.
Briefing reporters, SDPO Debaprasad Roy said that a raid was conducted in the Border Gol Chakkar area on Monday night. During the operation, a group of robbers armed with sharp weapons attacked the police team, leaving one policeman injured.
Despite the assault, two accused were apprehended on the spot, while others managed to escape. Later, through follow-up operations, police arrested two more from Vishalgarh and Jaipur. Stolen gold ornaments were also recovered from their possession.
The arrested have been identified as Akash Das, Shakil, Pintu, and Jhuton Mia. Police said the gang was involved in several cases of theft and robbery across Tripura.
The accused will be produced before the court, and police are set to seek their remand for further investigation, SDPO Roy added.
