A tragic incident has left residents of Baligaon under Kamalpur subdivision in deep sorrow after the body of a 61-year-old woman was recovered from a pond near her residence.

The deceased, identified as Mayarani Lodh, had reportedly gone to take a bath in the pond on Wednesday evening, following her usual routine. When she failed to return home after a considerable amount of time, her family members became worried and launched a search.

Relatives and local residents searched throughout the night in nearby areas, but were unable to locate her.

The following morning, local residents spotted a body floating in the pond and immediately informed the family. Upon reaching the spot, family members identified the body as that of Mayarani Lod.

Police personnel arrived at the scene soon after, recovered the body, and initiated the necessary legal procedures. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary findings indicate that the woman may have accidentally drowned while bathing. However, police have begun an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding her death.

Family members stated that they do not suspect any foul play in the incident.
