Day after Tipra Motha MLA's warning, Pradyot meets governor, calls it ‘Personal’

A day after Tipra Motha Party (TMP) MLA Ranjit Debbarma threatened to withdraw support from the BJP-led government in Tripura, royal scion and TMP founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma met Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Sunday. However, he maintained that the meeting was purely personal.

While Pradyot remained tight-lipped about the purpose of the meeting, he reiterated that it was not political in nature.
“Yesterday at ISKCON, we met, and he told me to visit him whenever I had time. So, I met him today and spoke with him on various issues. The Governor listened to my views, and I also patiently heard his advice. Let’s see how things go. He is very nice and gave us some suggestions, which I cannot share publicly. Since this was a private meeting, I don’t want to discuss the details,” Pradyot told reporters.

On the issue of illegal infiltration, Pradyot said the problem is very real in Tripura.

“If we fail to address it now, our next generation will suffer. This is not just a Tipra Motha issue — it concerns every citizen of this state, the Northeast, and India,” he said.

He emphasized that vote-bank politics must not overshadow the urgency of the matter and called for unity among all political parties.

“I am in regular touch with the Chief Minister. This is about the future of Tripura. If we remain divided, we risk doing great injustice to the generations to come,” he warned.

Pradyot also announced a rally in Agartala on Monday to raise awareness and mobilize public support against illegal immigration from Bangladesh.

“This is not just my fight, or Tipra Motha’s fight — this is a fight for every Indian,” he added.
