Brijesh Pandey, IAS, Revenue Secretary to the Government of Tripura, visited key meteorological facilities in Agartala on Wednesday, including the Meteorological Centre, AMO Agartala, and the Doppler Weather Radar site.
During the visit, officials from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Agartala, showcased the existing infrastructure and the range of meteorological services currently being provided across the state.
The discussions also focused on IMD’s future expansion plans, which include the installation of 24 new Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) across Tripura to enhance data collection and forecasting capabilities. Additionally, a proposal for setting up a new Doppler Weather Radar at Belonia was put forward to strengthen weather monitoring in the southern parts of the state.
The Revenue Secretary reviewed the technical capabilities and ongoing services, and assured support from the state government in strengthening the meteorological infrastructure in Tripura.
