Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday said the upcoming Civil Hospital in Agartala will play a key role in easing the patient burden on the state's major referral hospitals, particularly GB Pant Hospital.

The newly constructed 50-bedded Civil Hospital is ready for inauguration, with its official opening expected shortly. The facility has been equipped with modern healthcare infrastructure, including an oxygen generation plant, emergency medical services, and ample parking space.

Speaking about the new hospital, Dr. Saha, who also holds the Health portfolio, said the facility will improve access to medical care for residents while reducing overcrowding at existing government hospitals.

"With the Civil Hospital becoming operational, the patient load at referral hospitals like GB Pant will come down significantly. Many patients also face communication and accessibility challenges, and this hospital will provide them with easier access to quality healthcare. We have ensured modern treatment facilities, and specialists from various disciplines will be available to serve patients. The Medical Superintendent of IGM Hospital will oversee the administration of this hospital," he said.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government's continued efforts to strengthen the state's healthcare system through recruitment and infrastructure expansion.

"We are recruiting healthcare personnel and creating new posts to further improve health infrastructure. Our government remains committed to the overall development of the healthcare sector and ensuring better medical services for the people," Dr. Saha added.
